Paying homage to the typical suburban renovation, we integrated two simple skillion roofs with the existing weatherboard cottage producing a play of intersections in this northern suburbs project. One plane tilts towards the sun to create inviting, light-filled living spaces while the other retreats to accommodate the private zones. The owners were open to a bold palette of concrete, plywood and black painted walls in a contemporary departure from the period features of the original house.
